EF x SWIRL RECORDS: JESS JOHNS, CATHY DIVER + MELTON PEACH

SR x EF Present: Jess Johns, Cathy Diver + Melton Peach

Extended Family + Swirl Records are teaming up to raise some funds for Girls Rock! Adelaide’s 2021 programs.

JESS JOHNS

Jess Johns is the solo pursuit of enigmatic Adelaide artist, Jessica Johns. The band’s dreamy take on 'indie australiana' sits modestly in the present while looking over its shoulder to artists gone by.

CATHY DIVER (CBR)

Cathy makes the still and mundane magical and mystical. Having previously toured Adelaide as part of Canberra bands Helena Pop and Azim Zain and his Lovely Bones, this will be Cathy’s first time with her current project. In an erstwhile guise she has toured with Tim Rogers
(You Am I), supported Beth Orton (UK) and Bob Evans, as well as coming home with the National Live Music Awards’ ACT Live Voice of the Year for 2017 and 2018.

MELTON PEACH

Melton Peach is the brainchild of Lauren Bull. Fusing together a wide range of influences from Elliot Smith to the Strokes, Melton Peach ultimately creates an engrossing world that is embedded in the past, and present.

NOTHING REALLY, EAGLEMONT + KEESKEA

We're excited to host our first Melbourne show of the year with Nothing Really, Eaglemont + Keeskea (SA).

Reduced capacity / grab you pre-sale tickets here: https://bit.ly/2NWKLuP

--------------------------------------

Nothing Really:

Channeling the indie-rock introspection of bands like Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy, Nothing Really’s considered approach to making music is both genuine and focused. Lead singer, Vic Austin, unpacks the complexity of the relationships we share, gently wrestling with the discomfort of what it means to be flawed and fallible.

Eaglemont:

An insatiable brand of pop rock that delivers hooky guitar lines with emotionally intelligent and introspective lyricism. Eaglemont invites you into her corner of the world through stories of love, friendship and identity.

Keeskea (SA):

Delicate and affecting, Keeskea (case-kay-ah) is the project of musical wonder Vanessa Marousopoulos. With a unique gift for making sense of what’s tangled, Keeskea unwinds sensitive emotions to their threadbare state whilst leaving more than enough space for reflection and reconnection.

Nothing Really | 'Yuck' EP Launch

Channeling the indie-rock introspection of bands like Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy, Nothing Really’s considered approach to making music is both genuine and focused. Lead singer, Vic Austin, unpacks the complexity of the relationships we share, gently wrestling with the discomfort of what it means to be flawed and fallible.

Formed at the start of 2018 from Austin’s solo project “Blaire”, the group quickly amassed support slots for international and local staples alike, including Foxing (USA), The Smith Street Band, Cry Club, Bec Stevens and more.

Their debut EP 'Yuck' sees the band grow into their own skin musically and explores themes of emotional purgatory, cycles of miscommunication and the battles to create ones own space of positivity when surrounded by animosity.

SIGNALS MIDWEST (USA) + CARB ON CARB (NZ)

After meeting at a show in Philadelphia, and later hanging out at Fest 16 in Florida, Signals Midwest and Carb on Carb come together again in Adelaide of all places for a ripper of a double headline show.

Signals Midwest have been a mainstay of heartfelt American punk rock, releasing 3 albums on the impeccable Tiny Engines label, and leaving countless basement shows breathless. Frontman Max Stern is no stranger to Australia, having toured before solo and with Meridian.

Honorary and sometimes actual Aussie residents Carb on Carb will be back from New Zealand with a shiny new single, a promise of an album and 23kg checked + 7kg carry-on packed with riffs. Part of the Aotearoa Emo Revival, their music is direct and relatable. Songs about dogs, parents and making mistakes.

Catch them both at the Crown & Anchor on Wednesday March 14 with locals Bec Stevens and Superdose Gangway.
